Beat the Summer Heat: Work in Manufacturing

Summer is definitely here! In Minnesota and Wisconsin - if we are lucky - we are feeling the heat and not just the mosquitoes. Now is a great time to take a look at the job opportunities available in the local precision and medical device manufacturing market. Manufacturing is often overlooked as a great career opportunity; today let’s debunk some of the myths out there:
  • Manufacturing doesn’t pay well. Not true! Today’s manufacturing operations require skilled workers to produce products that impact people every day. Dream It Do It of Minnesota reports that on average manufacturing jobs earn $56,000+ a year or almost ten thousand more than most other Minnesota jobs.
  • Operation centers are dark and old. Definitely not the case! Precision and medical device manufacturing operations are some of the most high-tech out there. Employees are working in clean, air-conditioned facilities supplied with the latest equipment to produce products that impact people’s lives.
  • But everything is made in China. No, not true! According to a study by The Manufacturing Institute, the U.S. has a number of important advantages when it comes to being a world-class manufacturer. Those include: advanced research and development capabilities, widespread use and availability of technology, an unmatched network of suppliers and distributors and, more importantly, a highly skilled workforce with a strong work ethic. In Minnesota, manufacturing is the third largest industry and we are home to many of the top global and nationally known manufacturers.
  • The work is repetitive. No, there is great variety! Manufacturing offers many career opportunities from technical, engineering, machining, customer support, sales, HR and finance. Many of these positions require STEM knowledge, problem solving and creativity. Dream It Do It spotlights real manufacturing job profiles that you can check out, or stop by one of our offices and we’d love to talk with you.
Manufacturing matters and the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin offer job seekers great opportunities to find rewarding careers at local and vibrant precision and medical device manufacturing companies.   [caption id="attachment_513" align="alignleft" width="296"]Manufacturing Floor Operation Source: industryweek.com[/caption]
